Your information

What this site collects, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted. Effective October 17, 2026.

Who runs this site

brianyoungauthor.com is the website of author Brian Young. Questions about anything on this page go to hello@brianyoungauthor.com.

What you send through the forms

The newsletter signup asks only for your email address. It goes to Brevo, the service Brian uses to send the newsletter. Brevo emails you a confirmation link first, and you join the list only after you click it.

The contact form and the preorder drawing form ask for things like your email address, your name, and your message. Those forms are delivered by FormSubmit, which passes them to Brian's email.

Brian uses what you send only to answer you, to send the newsletter you asked for, and to run the drawing you entered. It is never sold or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask to be removed, or to have anything you sent deleted, by emailing hello@brianyoungauthor.com.

Ads and visit measurement

The site uses the Meta Pixel from Meta (Facebook and Instagram). It tells Brian how many people visit after seeing an ad and how many tap through to Audible or a bookstore, so he can tell which ads are worth running. Meta may set cookies and connect the visit to your Meta account under Meta's privacy policy. You can limit this in your Meta ad preferences, by blocking third-party cookies, or with a content blocker. The site works the same either way.

The site also uses Google Analytics from Google to count visits: which pages people read, roughly where in the world they visit from, what kind of device they use, and which buttons they tap. It sets cookies so it can tell a new visit from a return visit. Brian sees totals, not who you are. On this site, Google Analytics is set not to use your visit for ads and not to connect it to your Google account. Google handles the data under Google's privacy policy. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies, or with a content blocker. The site works the same either way.

The site also uses the TikTok Pixel from TikTok. Like the Meta Pixel, it tells Brian how many people visit after seeing one of his TikTok ads or videos and how many tap through to Audible or a bookstore. TikTok may set cookies and connect the visit to your TikTok account under TikTok's privacy policy. You can limit this in your TikTok ad settings, by blocking third-party cookies, or with a content blocker. The site works the same either way.

No other ad or analytics service runs on this site today. If one is added, it will be listed here first.

Fonts, hosting, and links

Typefaces load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads (Google's privacy policy). The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log visits for security (GitHub's privacy statement). The audio samples and PDFs are served from this site.

Links to Audible, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books2Read, IngramSpark, Booksprout, and social networks take you to those companies' sites, where their own privacy policies apply.

Audible referral links

The Listen on Audible buttons are Audible referral links. If you start an Audible trial through one, Brian may receive a referral bonus from Audible. It costs you nothing extra.

Young readers

The Sophia Sprite books are written for readers 10 and up, and this site is meant for them and the adults who read with them. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Readers under 13 should ask a parent or guardian to sign up or write in for them. If you think a child under 13 has sent information through a form, email hello@brianyoungauthor.com and it will be deleted.
